Shirley Farm is one of the few remaining Bicentennial Farms in New Hampshire, meaning that it has been in continuous agricultural production by the same family since before the Constitution. The farm consists of over 90 acres of open space and more than 300 acres of picturesque woodland. Since 1998, we have been growing a wide variety of certified organic vegetables, herbs and flowers for sale at local farmers' markets and our farm stand. In 2004, we became a community supported farm ( known as a "CSA" for community supported agriculture), providing families with weekly boxes of fresh produce and bunches of cut flowers from June through mid-October.
In 2008, we will be offering fifty (50) shares in the CSA, five (5)of which will be Working Shares. Although our current operation is small by most standards, we hope to expand over the next several years to include increased vegetable production, more small fruit (strawberries, blueberries and raspberries) and organic eggs. We believe the farm to be an important agricultural asset in our state and hope to be able to share it with an increasing number of people in our community.
